Description Like many other tribes, members of the Wabanaki Nation have long told stories about the first blade of sweetgrass. This beautiful, own-voices story tells of a girl that accompanies her grandma for first time to harvest sweetgrass for basket making. She has to learn how to distinguish sweetgrass from the other grasses. She leaves the first blade she sees to grow for future generations.
